Went here for a light lunch with friends l had a jacket potato with onion, cheese and coleslaw it came with side salad with dressing on top and it tasted odd.
The cheese that came melted on top of potato was tasteless cheap cheese with no flavour.

This review is regarding the Christmas lunch that we had at The Ashburnham. It was incredibly disappointing, and frankly shockingly bad all round and was one of the worst our family has had. We used to dine every Christmas when the old owners had it - and it would always be lovely with them, they'd have a Santa, music playing, give out lottery tickets to every person etc. This was the first time we visited since the new owners, and it was SO cheaply done, no music playing, terrible budget Christmas crackers, didn't even feel like Christmas dinner!! It used to be around £32 for 3 courses and now more than £70+ without any free alcoholic drinks, which I would understand if it was done well like I was expecting, but it was such terrible food and all round awful. Mash was so under seasoned, the carvery was overcooked, no roast potatoes but deep fried ones that were disgusting- lacking in variety, only a few sad miniature Brussels sprouts as well. and nobody was helping the elderly either like the used to, instead they were left to struggle with plates at the carvery. Apparently the new owners weren't even there but on holiday in Norway!! I could see that the staff were trying their best, but the owners should be really embarrassed with how bad and cheap the whole thing looked.

I attended for a meeting and the sitting area was in conservatory which was very hot with little air flow. Wouldn't stay for food as it was uncomfortably hot inside

Stayed while on business, cheerful welcome. Unfortunately, I can't review the evening meal as the restaurant was closed as they had a function. Breakfast was described as a Traditional Welsh Breakfast.....I wouldn't of expected a Richmond sausage (or equivalent) and a hash brown. Welsh soda bread with a nice Welsh pork sausage. Bacon was good though.
Room was warm, though mattress was a bit hard for my liking (old bones). Bathroom looked tired with a shower curtain but plenty of hot water.

Perfect hotel. Not suitable for people with disabilities as no lift to rooms. A hand rail could be of use along wall to climb steep stairs. We did manage slowly. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was superb. Thankyou for a pleasant overnight stay.

A nightmare moved rooms 3 times in 1 evening carpets into breakfast room stinking owner strimming grass at 8 30am outside breakfast room never again

Sunday carvery delicious. Tastes home cooked. Would definitely recommend. One thing I'd add is that the veg had a lot of butter in it, which could be an issue if someone had a dairy allergy.

We only had the carvery which was truly excellent,plenty of everything you could eat.Our waitress Bethan 10 out of 10 for service.
We are going again next week already booked!!!

A very friendly and relaxed base camp for a few mates to enjoy a few days walking along a beautiful coast. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming, helpful and friendly.

We hadn't been to the Ashburnham for over eleven years having had a bad experience with the previous owners.
Last night after a bad experience in another local restaurant we called down to the hotel to see if there was a table available luckily there was and the service and food was ace, we certainly will be back!

It's got everything you need and the prices are even better . Highly highly recommend to any one and everyone. And the food is absolutely exceptional
